Top 10 Bathrooms

There’s a reason they call it the master bath. After all, the master of the house — be it a man or, more likely, a woman — deserves the very best. Today that means such details as his-and-her sinks, a luxurious soaking tub, a roomy standup shower, ample light, plenty of room to maneuver and a dedicated room for the “toilette.” Whether the style is traditional or contemporary, most opt for high-tech hardware including jet spray showers, steam showers, jacuzzi tubs, mood lighting and more. And, of course, only the finest materials will do — heated ceramic tile, marble, granite, quartz, copper, chrome, stainless steel. The days of Formica and linoleum are gone forever.

With all that in mind, we set out to find the Top 10 master bathrooms in the Huntington area. How did we do that? We called upon our more than 30 years of experience featuring homes, and we asked for suggestions from local designers including Creative Kitchens, Kitchens by Classic Construction, Chandler’s Kitchens, Ackenpucky Design and Kitchens by Woody’s. Finally, we asked our followers on social media for their input. The following are the finest master baths we found. So sit back, prop your feet up and enjoy the show. Inspiration surely awaits you on the following pages.

The Hugh Home: Organic materials and tones converge in this space. The copper tub, wood slat walls and trim, and natural fiber shades bring the outdoors inside. The portrait wall and shower drape add color and whimsy to this rustic creation. Designed by Ackenpucky.

The Kelly Home: On-trend colors of celadon, gray and white define the chromatic scheme for the restrained elegance found in this bath. The mirrored wall with surface-mounted sconces and mirrors, sleek cabinetry and hardware and the hexagonal tile backsplash keep the space current yet still traditional. Designed by Creative Kitchens.

The Brown Home: Rich, warm tones frame the soaking tub against the punch of apricot walls. The deep cherry canopy and chest-style vanity sharply contrast the light floor and window shades, creating a comfortable, traditional space. Designed by homeowner Mary Lou Brown.

The Ward Home: The juxtaposition of old and new fill this loft-like room. Exposed brick, electrical conduit and ductwork sharply contrast against the more refined glass-front tub and cantilevered vanity. The warm slate completes the modern space with obvious ties to the past. Designed by Classic Construction.

The Dillard Home: The dark, clean lines of the cabinetry and the sleek soaking tub are the stars of this streamlined bath. The warm neutral walls and tile floor provide a rich backdrop for this well-appointed space. Designed by Creative Kitchens.

The Jacobs-Skolic Home: Details abound in this Tuscan-inspired retreat. From the warm, rich colors of the walls and painted moldings to the mosaic tile floor medallion and the generously sized soaking tub, this bath provides a beautiful interior view as well as an envious view of Ritter Park. Designed by homeowners Helene Jacobs and Stephane Skolic.

Marshall President’s Home: Classic elements and modern style live happily together in this space. The clawfoot tub is perfectly at ease against the celadon and gray space, creating a soothing, restful, spa-like feel. Designed by Phoebe Patton Randolph, Principal Architect with Edward Tucker Architects, Inc.

The Young Home: The fun play of geometry in shades of gray and white set the tone for this bath. Circles, squares, ovals and diamonds found in the marble shower tile, tub surround, backsplash, window cornices and pivoting mirrors comfortably coexist in this sleek and formal space. Designed by Classic Construction.

The Campbell Home: Light abounds in this roomy celadon-colored space. The openness of the glass-enclosed shower in tandem with the detailed white cabinetry and tub front provide a traditional, soothing and restful at-home spa. Designed by Kitchens by Woody’s.

The Leaberry Home: This elegant and spacious bath is a study of contrasting textures. The polished marble floor and sleek glass shower enclosure are right at home against the rough-hewn shower walls and mosaic floor. While soaking in the oversized tub, multiple vistas can be enjoyed. Outside the large expanse of windows is the manicured garden, while overhead hangs a stunning oil portrait. Suspended over the tub is the room’s crowning glory — the French Empire-inspired gilded flame chandelier. Designed by Bob Bias and Brooke Leaberry.
